FAQs
How is Limono different from other socks?
A sock is a small object with a precise job. The wardrobe stays monochrome. The illustration sits only at the ankle. 3% of the surface does all the work. Not an accessory for contrast. Part of the architecture of clothing.
Who is Limono for?
For people whose eye is already trained on form and colour. Who know that 'less' is not a shortage but a decision. Often they work in visual fields: design, architecture, illustration, books. Not necessarily. The thing that matters is noticing.
Where are the socks made?
Knitted in Portugal, at a mill in the country's traditional sock region. Every illustration is drawn by hand.
Where do your sock illustrations come from?
Each illustration is made for Limono. Every motif is its own piece of work. No stock, no templates.
How are Limono designer socks different from printed socks?
Print sits on top of the fabric and wears off over time. The Limono illustration is knitted into the fabric: every line is its own thread. The drawing doesn't peel off the sock. It's part of how the sock is built.
What are the socks made of?
Combed cotton, a polyamide base for strength and shape, elastane for fit. The exact composition is on each product page.
Why not make socks from pure cotton?
They'd slip down and wouldn't wick moisture. Elastane and polyamide add stretch and comfort. They keep the shape and improve ventilation.
Do they suit a monochrome wardrobe?
Made for one. Black stays black, graphite stays graphite. The colour doesn't burst in. It appears at one point. That's the 3% Rule. A controlled dose.
Are all your socks unisex?
Yes. Sizes are letters and numbers, no 'men's / women's'. What to wear is up to you.
How do I find the right sock size?
The socks come in two sizes:
S (EU 36–40) — for a foot 22 to 25 cm long
L (EU 41–46) — for a foot 25 to 27 cm long
If your foot is 25 cm, go with the larger size — L (EU 41–46).
How are the socks packed?
A single pair comes in a soft zip pouch, 19.5 × 14 cm. A set of three pairs comes in a rigid slide-out box, 22.5 × 10.5 × 4 cm.
Do Limono socks work as a gift for someone who wears black?
That's exactly what they're for. They're made for a wardrobe where no one drops in a 'fun accessory'. The leg stays one colour. Black or graphite. Charcoal works too. The illustration is at the ankle, a controlled dose.
Is the gift box included or sold separately?
Gift Sets are three pairs from one series, in one box, packed and ready. Single pairs come in a zip pouch. If you need a box, choose a set.
Can I ship a gift straight to the recipient?
Yes. Order a Gift Set and ship it to the recipient's address. It arrives ready to give.
Are they a good gift for designers, photographers, people in visual fields?
Yes. They're for people who see and feel colour. Who know that a sock is a small object that can hold its own piece of work.
Which series should I pick if I'm not sure of their taste?
The Lemonheads series is the most versatile. One motif (lemons), works with any black or grey. If they wear a lot of black, go with Ivory or Black, the most neutral pairs in the series.

What is your return policy?
If you haven't worn the socks and haven't broken the protective seal on the pair, you can return your order within 14 days. Return shipping varies by country and is deducted from the refund. Reach us via the contact form and we'll send instructions.
If you've already tried them on, we cannot take them back, for hygiene reasons and in line with European law.
In the EU, online returns are governed by Directive 2011/83/EU, which gives the buyer 14 days to withdraw from a purchase. There are exceptions. For example, items not suitable for return on hygiene grounds once their packaging has been opened. Socks (like underwear) fall into this category: after a try-on or skin contact, they no longer count as 'new' and cannot be returned. This is set out in Article 16(e) of the directive: 'sealed goods which are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons and were unsealed after delivery'.
