Three yarn cones used in Limono socks, combed cotton, polyamide and elastane

The blend

Three fibres, each with one job.

  • 80% Organic combed cotton. The bulk of it. Soft on the skin through a long day.
  • 18% Polyamide. Strength. Keeps the heel and toe from wearing through. Lets moisture escape.
  • 2% Elastane. Fit. A few percent keeps the sock where you put it. No slipping. No pinching.
Limono Socks On Trend, Organic Cotton

What 'organic' means

No pesticides on the field. No synthetic fertilisers in the soil. No chemical residue on the fibre.

Every yarn we knit is GOTS-certified. Seed to spool, audited.

That's why organic cotton costs more. That's why we keep buying it.

Long-staple, combed. That's the softness you feel.

The colour holds

The colour is in the yarn, knitted in, not printed on top. Nothing sits on the surface to crack or wash off. Wash them as often as you like. The colour stays.

A toe without a seam

The toe is closed flat, by machine. No ridge, nothing to rub. Hand-linked seams leave a small bump you feel all day. This one you don't.

Care

A few simple habits keep them in shape.

Will it pill?

Combed long-staple cotton pills less than cheap cotton. It still pills. That's what a natural fibre does. It isn't plastic.

A fabric shaver clears it in a minute. We'd rather you wear real cotton and deal with the odd pill than wear plastic that never does.

That's the sock.

FAQs

What are the socks made of?

Combed cotton, a polyamide base for strength and shape, elastane for fit. The exact composition is on each product page.

How are Limono designer socks different from printed socks?

Print sits on top of the fabric and wears off over time. The Limono illustration is knitted into the fabric: every line is its own thread. The drawing doesn't peel off the sock. It's part of how the sock is built.

How do I wash the socks?

Machine wash cold at 30–40 °C, gentle cycle. No bleach. Line dry in the shade. Do not dry clean.

To keep the surface looking its best, wash them inside out.

Why not make socks from pure cotton?

They'd slip down and wouldn't wick moisture. Elastane and polyamide add stretch and comfort. They keep the shape and improve ventilation.

What is GOTS certification?

Global Organic Textile Standard. The main standard for organic textiles. It certifies that the cotton is grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilisers, and that environmental and social criteria are met in production.
